First Foods: Grandpa is so proud...

We call this "And you thought avocado was a no..."

First Foods: Avocad-no

We are not a fan of avocados.  Mama even tried to sneak them into your sweet potatoes.  You were not having it.

We put avocados on the "to try again later" list.  Next, we try peas.  Much to Grandpa's dismay.

Best part

After dinner, we take our bath and change into our jammies.  Then this happens:

It's just about the best part of my day.  You listen to the book and look at me, but you would much rather eat the book than look at the pictures.

First Foods: Sweet Potato

Well, we can knock another milestone off the list.  First food!  Saturday night, you tried sweet potatoes.

As soon as you saw the bowl and the spoon, you were interested.  You've been intently watching us eat for months now.  I think you figured this was just another example of Daddy and I eating and not sharing.  You were very excited when you realized that the stuff in the bowl was for you.  Then Mama put it in your mouth.

You were less sure.  However, you picked up the technique quickly and enjoyed your sweet potatoes.  We're still working on the tongue motion, but you love real food.  Daddy is going to take some video tomorrow night so we can see how excited you get when it's time for food.  There is no doubt where you want me to put the food.  You open your mouth so wide I can almost see your stomach.  You also start slamming your hands your high chair tray if I don't put the food in fast enough.

Final sweet potato verdict:  YUM!

I think next we're going to try avocados.

Friends!

The Wombat made a friend last night!  Not so sure the "friend" is happy about it.

This was not staged at all.  The Fuzzy Kitty happened to jump up as Dad was holding The Wombat.

I realized earlier in the week that I've gotten lax in taking pictures of you.  I am most unhappy with myself, buddy.

I know it seems like I always have a camera in my hand, but I want to remember everything you do.  Forever.  My memory is shoddy at the best of time (ask Daddy...he has lots of forgetful Mommy stories) so pictures and video are all I have.  Here are some of my favorite videos...

This is what we wake up to pretty much every morning.  You're so happy in the morning (you get that from Daddy, NOT Mommy).

Motor Development

You can roll over!

Whoa baby are you excited to do it, too.  It's like all of a sudden, you've realized you can be mobile.  Your legs kick, your turn over on your tummy as often as you can, you LOVE tummy time, and you want to see everything that is going on around you.  After you've rolled over, you are so proud of yourself.  From the leg kicking and wiggling, I think you can't wait to crawl.  There is a great big world out there...and you want to see it all!

You are incredibly strong.  Just recently, you've started lifting your tush in the air.  Daddy has been practicing sitting up with you and you are constantly trying to sit up when we lay you flat.  Sitting up is so cool!

You LOVE your jumperoo and standing on your feet.  If I didn't know how wobbly you really are, I would expect you to run off at any minute.

You're growing and changing so fast, Little One.  Each day is a new adventure and we love watching you grow.
